May the all perpetrators and rape advocates be brought to book.
Rape has speedily become prevalent, people of all ages are being raped on a daily basis from some few months old babies to elderly ones (mostly the female gender).
Let us consider rape amidst the youths.
When it is rape and when it is not? At least we don’t expect an elderly man or woman or little children to falsely accuse anyone of rape. In that case, there is little or no doubt that if a person is alleged of raping little children or elderly ones then it’s most likely true.
I will create some few scenarios and these cases are different from the obvious force and coldblooded rape perpetrated by friends, partners, strangers and people of higher status like bosses, helpers etc.
Overtime, it has become difficult to ascertain when a sexual intercourse is rape or consensual or should I say consented rape, this has made retribution difficult whereby a real rapist is vindicated and their victims doesn’t get justice and has to live with the burden all their lives and/or a falsely accused person is punished for what he or she didn’t commit (mostly he).
Let’s create some few scenarios.
Scenario 1.
A lady visited her male friend without having any ulterior motive, just to hang out and that’s all, the guy begins to touch her inappropriately, she said to him she doesn’t like it, he didn’t stop but he wasn’t hard or forceful, he persisted calmly and softly, she on the other hand was resisting but doing it mildly, he continued touching softly, she kept resisting mildly. In the end they had sexual intercourse.
This scenario right there is the case of many and it can happen in the other way round where it is the guy who doesn’t want to engage in the sexual intercourse.
Scenario 2.
Two opposite sex attracted to each other are alone in a room, they had started foreplay and had gone a long way, their minds were ready, bodies were ready for the main thing and just about time for the deal, a party pulled out and decided he/she won’t continue ( in most cases, it’s the lady that pulls out) , the party who is already on cloud 9 didn’t stop and continued and so they had it.
This is another common case; how easy is it to back out? Is it okay to lead on and back out whenever the spirit leads?
We have heard many stories whereby the involved parties have different opinion about their sexual intercourse, one party sees it as rape and the other party sees it a consensual.
Scenario 3.
This is the case of many male, it could be from friends, exes, bosses (like the case of Potiphar’s wife in the bible) family members etc. When a party falsely accuses another party of rape for different reasons like revenge, anger, blackmail e.t.c
That is another common case of rape experienced mostly by the male gender, which has made it extremely difficult to know for sure if truly an accused person is guilty of rape.

Survey in the sense that.
I asked a group of guys why do they persist in touching girls even when asked not to .

It may not be easy to identify the guilty party. However, nothing good or worth doing is ever easy to accomplish. Both parties involved in a case of sexual abuse accusation will have to be interviewed by a neutral qualified psychologist and reports must be given on both testimonies. A thorough investigation should be conducted involving medical examination and forensic research in order to ascertain evidence.
Opinion on the topic: Male and female in society should be sensitized from the earliest age of cognition and consciousness about sex and the attitudes and behaviours that lead to it. Everyone from the youngest age should be made aware of the implications of engaging in sexual intercouse. Emotional Intelligence and Interpersonal skills are fundamental topics of knowledge which must be taught at home and in schools from the earliest of age. Holistic Education is the ultimate form of fundamental education which must not be overlooked by parents.
Boys and girls at all levels should also be educated about the importance of practicing protected sex in order to prevent the contraction of sexually transmitted diseases and unplanned pregnancies.
People should be adequately educated about what to do in the event that both parties are willing to engage in sex.
Psychologists should be deployed by the government or social services of the country to be active in engaging members of the society in using counselling services in order to promote the overall well-being of the members of society in all regions towards responsible interpersonal and sexual behaviour.
On a national level, committees for investigating sexual assault crimes should be put in place and vetted to the highest standard of practice.
